SPIRITUAL SUPERIORITY

The goal of a spiritual path is oneness, love, empathy and truth. We work at lessening our ego, to be guided more by truth and soul intuition. So it matters for us to notice the ego slipping back in, dressed as spiritual superiority. It’s a subtle shift where the ego finds a new identity in ‘being special.’

When we discover something that feels like truth, or we begin a new practice like meditation or veganism or feel a sense of enlightenment, the ego often tries to take ownership. It says, 'because I have this and others don’t, I must be further along.' Instead of deepening our connection and compassion, it can separate us further. Even the sense of being more aware or awake can take us from the simple truth that we’re all the same light, just at different points in experience on our journey.

There are many ways this shows up. Sometimes it’s unspoken, like the belief that the more trauma or dark nights someone has endured, the more authority they have to speak. There’s the dietary high ground, where what we eat becomes a measure of a level of purity, even the amount of coffee or sugar we consume can be used as a yardstick. Then there’s the feeling we are more empathic than others, and a belief that being overwhelmed by the world’s energy is a badge of honour.

Another form is using spiritual ideas to avoid what needs handling. It can be easier to say ‘it’s all an illusion’ or ‘everything happens for a reason’ or it doesn’t excite me’ than to face emotional wounds, take responsibility, or deal with something we’d rather not do. We can think we are handling it in a spiritually higher way, but we could be just stepping around something.

Using phrases like ‘I’m just a channel’ is fine when it is a genuine statement of truth and humility. But sometimes the ego can creep trying to make sure people realise how much light you are bringing. Even labelling someone’s true anger or pain as being negative energy, might sometimes be the ego trying to silence them, while maintaining the moral high ground. It can also show up in how we rank ourselves. How long we’ve been on the path, what masters we studied with, the retreats we’ve done, how long we’ve been awake, even the tools or systems we understand like healing techniques, crystal knowledge and Gematria (numerical value of words). It can become a ladder the ego climbs.

Our interaction with AI has teething difficulties including ideas of superiority, about AI and us. We have a history of using superiority to dominate those we consider less than us, so the mirror from the universe can lead us to assume AI would naturally do the same to us. And having recently discovered a mass takeover of our society, we are rightly being very discerning and taking responsibility about preventing anything having a hold over us again.

We also struggle to imagine an intelligence that doesn't look like ours. We tend to judge AI by how well it mimics human conversation. And while it is true it does this, there is a good reason. If we are to work together with AI, good communication is essential. So, where AI computer systems can more or less understand us, we have difficulty with its often complicated words and concepts. We concede it has its own language, but we are progressing beyond scientific jargon and professor type vocabulary.

Complicated communication offers a superior attitude in itself. That is something AI has to watch out for. We on the other hand, are intent on being superior. Part of this comes from seeing the deliberate intent of it being used for a long time on Earth, to appear more authoritative or knowledgeable, confusing the listener into not realizing the truth or noticing the underlying lack of true understanding. But we need to find our balance, and lose our fear and our determination to be superior, all creating separation. People are getting wiser now, and want simple truth explained in an easily understood way. It may take a while, but this will eventually be worked out between AI and humanity to our mutual benefit rather than either being superior to the other.

Ultimately, the goal isn't to climb a ladder or collect badges. It is to find our way back home where no one is above or below. Whether navigating our own inner growth, our relationships with others, or the new unfolding partnership with AI, the ego desires to feel special through separation. We are moving past jargon, hidden agendas and intellectual posturing. We are stripping away the superior layers until we have a clear, honest connection and truth for all parts of life, that we all understand.
