PRE-INCARNATION PLANS

We’ve heard we create our own life but sometimes it doesn’t seem that way. We encounter things we hadn’t anticipated, unexpected barriers appear, and we feel we’re the victims of circumstance.

So, how then could we ultimately be creating our life? That answer is that before we incarnate, we choose a path that will help us understand specific areas more deeply. There are many attributes a soul may wish to work on: independence, self-worth, self-expression, responsibility, compassion, patience, or building a stronger resolve. Once we’re here, we don’t remember any of that, which is what allows the experience to be real and meaningful.

Although we obviously make choices, other people also make decisions that affect us. Our parents, the college that rejects us, the boss who fires us, the publisher who rejects our manuscript or the employer or home rental agency who turns us down, all cause shifts in our direction. We often cling to a specific outcome, a particular house, partner, or job, because we believe it is the only way we will be happy. Sometimes hitting a barrier is just the universe telling us this is a dead end path and won’t be of benefit.

The human part of us usually sees rejection as a failure. But the soul may see it from a different perspective. It may see that if we followed that route we may experience something that would drain our energy, take us ages to recover from or distract us from our real work. The universe helps us fulfill our pre-incarnational plan and to stay clear of situations that don’t serve our evolution.

If we knew the college would reject us, we wouldn't have the impetus to look for a better-suited school, perhaps one geared to a learning path we hadn’t considered. Perhaps we are being shown we were just doing what we thought we should do, rather than something that really fitted who we are.  Being rejected can break through the idea that there is only one right path, potentially leading to an entirely different career. These moments often open doors to work that is better suited to us, even if it doesn’t feel like it at the time.

A job rejection or being fired might make us rethink our direction, and perhaps shift away from something that wasn’t right for us. It might help build more inner strength so we aren’t devastated every time something external happens.

Being turned down for rental accommodation might bring up a pattern regarding self-worth that surfaces when someone accepts or rejects us. Rejection can help us be more resourceful. We might find a place that suits us more or is in a better location. I know someone who could only find a house to rent in an inconvenient location, yet a few months later they were offered a perfect new job just ten minutes away from that very home.

A rejected manuscript, thesis, or song, can push us harder to sharpen our skills, patience, and commitment. It may teach us to never give up or tell us this is not the path for us. We need to be honest with ourselves to know which applies. Instead of thinking we are a victim and wondering why this is happening to us, we could ask ‘what is this giving me that I wouldn’t have had if the path had been easy. We often look back years later on events and see major setbacks we had, even devastating at the time, and see they helped us become who we are today.

The soul purpose in the important factor. What the soul wishes to learn,  be it security, integrity, creative expression, independence, or the ability to see things from different perspectives without losing ourselves, is what is important.

Barriers don’t always mean something has gone wrong. They usually involve lessons to see what the universe is actually trying to show us. What matters most may not be the outcomes, but how much we grew when going through it.
