GETTING PAST THE EGO

We’ve seen so much over recent years where information is taken out of context or people take bits from something they think supports their own beliefs, or jump in too fast with their assumptions, or fail to actually duplicate what’s being said, can’t understand the reality expressed, don’t know that information is often deliberately created, just don’t consider it,  additional information is needed, or lack of awareness prevents clarity. And maybe insufficient time is given to really apply critical thinking to include what higher picture could explain it. The truth may be all around them, often extremely accurate but when so convinced of rightness it is dismissed with a glance, deemed unfit to consider as it’s obvious the person is wrong. Critical thinking requires us to let go for a minute of fixed ideas that our ego personality is hell bent on finding evidence to back. To stand far enough back to really study it objectively. Not always an easy task as it requires overcoming that strong ego drive that so wants to be right.

It requires that we reach a point where we really want truth. I mean really want it. Not the lower obvious visible stuff, but why it’s really happening. Where the soul impetus is to truly understand and grow, and it overrules the need to be right. That point where the soul rises and become big enough and strong enough, where it is no longer a priority to be seen to be right or smart or clever or special, but makes the move that shifts us from emotional reactions, indignation, pride, and our constant seeking things and people that support our current view. Perhaps to ensure we have got it right, or maybe just the ego proving that others think the same way which means we must be right.

It is all learning and after all, that’s why we came. Back and forth we move, moment to moment, along our path of discovery, sometimes letting the ego and emotions swamp us as we drown in its complexity and confusion. Then there are moments that we surrender and clarity floods from the light within. Perhaps prompted by us giving up on the external confusion, or maybe it’s just the soul breaking through the drama of the illusion and pausing in stillness to find its contact to the divine flow of source, and for a moment it understands.
